On Monday, May 11, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., Nathalie Delzenne, professor at UCLouvain, will give a lecture open to the general public entitled Innovations in Nutrition and Health: Focus on the Gut Microbiota.

The microbiota is an ecosystem made up of 100 trillion bacteria that "colonize" our intestines and play a key role in human physiology. We provide it with shelter, but also food. Indeed, diet is one of the key factors in establishing the microbiota from birth and continues to influence our health throughout our lives. What is the link between our eating habits and the gut microbiota? What innovations are there in the field of nutrition, based on the latest developments in this area? These questions will be addressed in the presentation, which will take a scientific look at nutritional and therapeutic approaches (probiotics, prebiotics) that can modulate the gut microbiota in order to optimize health and quality of life.
