From May 11 to 13, 2026, Liège hosted the FoodBooster 2026 international conference, organized by the IIS FoodBooster with support from the University of Liège, the CER Group, and Wallonia. Under the theme “Emerging tools to improve our nutritional environment,” the event brought together scientists, industry representatives, and institutional stakeholders from France, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Flanders, demonstrating the now (inter)national influence of Wallonia’s health ingredients ecosystem.

Feedback from participants was unanimously positive, highlighting both the scientific quality of the program and the care taken in its organization. The talks directly involved companies, fostering a concrete dialogue between research and industry around sustainable food innovations. Topics such as the microbiome, preventive nutrition, and food biotechnology were addressed by leading experts, raising awareness among both the general public—through an open conference—and industry specialists.

One of the highlights of the 2026 edition was the organization of tours of the PHENIX platforms, Wallonia’s leading technological and analytical platforms in the agri-food sector. These tours provided a concrete showcase for the region’s infrastructure and created new opportunities for collaboration among academic, industrial, and institutional partners.

Beyond the numbers, FoodBooster 2026 fully accomplished its dual mission: to disseminate the latest scientific knowledge and to strengthen ties within an ecosystem that, with 76 partners, has established itself as a key player in the European health ingredients sector.
